Bea Cummins: The Interview

  • Discovering Mature: Thanks for taking the time for an interview with Discovering Matures, we've followed your career on Southern Charms for a number of years now. Was Southern Charms how you started your career in porn?
  • Bea Cummins: I started my career in erotic art through the prompting of my husband; it took him two years to get me to agree. I didn’t think that I had what it takes to be in this business. I did start with Southern Charms because I made a promise to myself that if I didn’t get a flattering response or good compensation for doing this I would pull my site after two months, that was over 5 years ago and I am still going strong and enjoying myself just like I did when I started.

  • DM: Have you always been sexually adventurous and open?
  • BC: Deep down inside myself it was always there, however, I was married to a very controlling man that showed little affection. I was only allowed to be what he wanted me to be.

  • DM: Did you have any concerns about working in porn?
  • BC: I had many concerns when I first started, will I be accepted? Will I make any money in this adventure, will it hurt my marriage. Little did I know that I worried for nothing.

  • DM: How did you transition from adult photo modeling into doing videos?
  • BC: I made the transition from doing home made movies to professional after being contacted by the Score Group in Miami I went down an shot with them for a couple of days in 2008.

  • DM: You do both amateur and professional modeling and video work. From your experiences what's the biggest difference between the two?
  • BC: The biggest difference between doing professional video’s & amateur videos is that with professional video’s I just show up on the set at 9:00 for hair and make up start shooting at 10:00 break for lunch shoot in the afternoon I am finished by 5:00pm. I am in a professional studio, the theme of the shoot is taken care of along with the male models. Basically I don’t have anything to worry about. Doing amateur I’m in my home or another location of my choosing, I do my makeup, hair, choose the clothes that I will be wearing and come up with a theme for the shoot.

  • DM: What aspects of your career in porn attract you the most?
  • BC: I am attracted to what I do mainly because of all the wonderful compliments I get plus I love showing off, I guess you could say that I am somewhat of an exhibitionist. I have always been a very sexual open person.

  • DM: How about the least?
  • BC: The least thing about doing what I do is that I discovered that my pictures get stolen and placed all over the internet. I dislike crude emails from men, I get a few comments that aren’t flattering but the majority far outweighs the bad.

  • DM: What's the reaction when people discover your work? Positive or Negative?
  • BC: I have gotten nothing but positive remarks about my work, there will always be a few negative ones but one can’t please everyone.

  • DM: For your amateur work who is your photographer?
  • BC: My photographer for my amateur work is my husband who just so happens to be the love of my life. He has always loved taking my photographs.

  • DM: What are the limits you've set for yourself and your work? Are their things you won't do just because you're not comfortable with it?
  • BC: I have a certain standard that I set for myself when I started, I will not venture out of my comfort zone no matter how many requests I get. I do not do anal, I am not into gang bangs. I do not speak of myself in what I would call street talk because that isn’t me. I am myself I do what is comfortable for me & never let someone talk me into doing something I don’t feel comfortable with.

  • DM: I mentioned this as work. Can you explain all that's involved with doing a photo shoot or a video shoot that might surprise people?
  • BC: This is work in a way but just setting up to do the actual shoot. First a theme must be in place then clothes and make up. Lights, camera, video must be just right for the most part my photographer/husband takes care of that, I just model we always include a few video clips in each update. I just wing that I never have a script. I think the work part comes in when the shoot is over, we process all of our photos & video’s. Each photo has to be looked at, cropped to the right size, marked with my copyright as the video’s have to be viewed and cut just in case I said something stupid which is no different then a large studio would do only we only have a computer to process. It’s that work involved which I doubt that many are aware of.

  • DM: What would the 20 year old Bea say about your career now?
  • BC: I think the 20 year old Bea would have said OMG, no way I was married and busy raising babies when I was 20.

  • DM: I'll let you turn the tables - do you have any questions for us?
  • BC: I am very curious as to what got you started in doing this type of work, how long have you been doing it. Do you enjoy doing this & have you ever been turned down by someone of importance?

  • DM: Well, I started only a few weeks ago actually. You’re only the second interview on Discovering Mature. I’m a fan of the mature genre and have been for a long time. I picked the mature porn area for a few of reasons. First, there didn't seem to be much out there on the subject that was interesting to me. Sure you can find some reviews, some bio pages, etc. but it seemed like most were re-hashed wikipedia type biographies. Second, I wanted to 'document' my journey of discovery. Literally going from the first experience with mature porn with the loop "Grandmother's Lust" through many years up to the people I enjoy watching today. I tried to bring a personal perspective to how I 'discovered' many mature performers and impressions they’ve left on me. And lastly, I am curious about and want to better understand why someone later in life would choose this alternative career for themselves, especially in a business that is dominated by a younger-is-better mindset. I am learning quickly there are some amazing people and
  • stories behind why they are doing this. I've only been publishing my blog for a few weeks and I have had already gotten a couple rejections for interviews from performers who weren't interested. Each had their own reasons which I respect. My biggest hope from interviews like this is that someone else 'discovers matures' by reading my blog and maybe ladies like yourself will gain a few fans in the process.

  • DM: Any final thoughts or comments for your fans?
  • BC: The only comments I have for my fans and members are that I love you all and I am very grateful that you sincerely enjoy my work & what I am all about. Thank you for appreciating me for myself, I never try to be something that I am not.

  • DM: Thanks again Bea for taking the time out to chat with Discovering Matures. Best of luck to you in the all your future projects. And don’t forget Bea’s Independent Website www.BeaCummins.com where you can find of the hottest updates with both pictures and videos.
